About 8-10 years ago, I started creating a quotes wall. It was the wall straight ahead of my bed, so everyday when I woke up, it was the first thing I saw and it filled me with positivity and motivation. They say what you hear in the first 20 minutes after waking up, will set the tone for your day and that is very true. Even on my challenging days, knowing that I filled myself with positivity, helped me get through the day.
My quotes wall has been ever evolving. I continue to add more and more and there may be a time where I decide something is no longer relevant to me and take it down. But overall, it has continued to grow.
A few years ago, when I began to build a place with a significant other, I no longer had my quotes wall and I began to notice the impact of it. That is when I realized just how important it was for me. On my toughest days, it gave me somewhere to go for hope.
Therefore, I truly encourage people to create a space where it is there own. You can be sharing a space with someone else but still create your own little corner. Maybe use just post-it notes to create your quotes corner. But put up every single quote that makes an impression upon you. Put up your goals. Put up the little things that mean something to you. Make it a place that gives you hope and motivates you. It gives you tangible self-motivation. I have walked though some rather tough things and not the toughest by any means, many have lived far worse, but within my community, I had one of the toughest. And during this journey, I relied upon this wall and it brought so much motivation to me and centered me. I highly encourage it if you can. It does not cost much to do, but its value is far more.
