Many people fear pain. But pain is not feared because of the feeling necessarily. Rather, pain is feared due to it being thought to be a negative feeling. However, pain is what helps us grow.
It is through pain that we learn what matters to us. We feel pain through various parts and journeys in our lives. We may feel it from our career or family or a romantic relationship. Each time we feel pain, we never want to feel it again. But let’s begin putting a positive connection to pain.
We grow each time we feel pain. Each experience teaches us what goals we want to achieve in life, the type of person we want to be, what type of people we want to surround ourselves with. It gives us the opportunity to self reflect.
Without pain, we would continue living life as we always have and never go forward in life. I have felt pain numerous times and I will admit, it hurts, but once I let the feeling of hurt pass, the period of self reflection comes in. You realize that maybe that part of your life taught you many things and maybe you enjoyed it for the time it lasted, but you also realize there were many things that were not good for you while you were going through that journey. At times, we are going through pain but are blinded by the rush of adrenaline and do not realize the pain we are truly feeling. Finally when the adrenaline subsides, we realize the pain we experienced. If you truly think about it, we tend not to realize when we were go through pain, we realize that it is a feeling we experienced. My little piece of advice, change the meaning of pain for yourself, realize you are growing when you feel pain and growth is incredible.
