Recently, I made the switch from coffee to tea. I used to drink tea before, but more so for its health benefits rather than its caffeine. Now I cut coffee out of my diet completely and consume only tea for caffeine. I was an avid coffee drinker before. I would have over 350 milligrams of caffeine per day, which is insane. To give you perspective, a cup of black coffee has 95 milligrams of caffeine. I did not drink multiple coffees in a given day, but rather off had anywhere from 3 espresso shots in my latte to a cup of nitro cold brew.
I began to wonder why there be many days where my eye would be twitching and it really started to worry me. So slowly I started to cut my caffeine intake, I realized the twitching was more likely on the days I drank a nitro cold brew rather than a latte, therefore, I completely cut the nitro cold brew out of my diet. But, I was not happy with that because the latte had so much sugar and unnecessary calories in it, so I switched to just plain black coffee. I ended up not liking the Keurig coffee taste on the daily and my Nespresso machine was in a storage, so I slowly started to further cut caffeine out.
I went a whole week without any caffeine. I saw so many benefits from removing caffeine from my diet. I was getting better quality sleep and felt more refreshed and a bonus, I no longer had coffee breath, great perk. I always had sleeping problems and would literally sleep only 4 hours every day and function completely fine, but after having a baby, my body was telling me it needed more sleep, but I just was not able to get it and I came to realize it was my caffeine intake.

Now I drink only one cup of plain chai tea a day and sleep 6 hours every night and I wake up feeling so refreshed. I had to slowly cut out caffeine from my diet, but it was so worth it. I am sure if I am really tired, I may have a cup of coffee, but otherwise, I really do not need it, even the nights that I get only 4 hours of sleep. It truly has been so life changing for me, I feel better overall and the eye twitching stopped too. Coffee has its benefits, but it is addictive. If you feel like you are facing any of these similar issues, try reducing your caffeine intake, you may be surprised at just how many of your issues are resolved by it.
